REX610 Engineering Manual

REX610 1.1 and higher versions support a new optional module ARC2001 3 Channel Arc protection. The user can upgrade an REX610 1.0 to REX610 1.1 or higher and configure the ARC module and enable ARC protection. Users with REX610 1.1 or higher versions without an ARC module can also upgrade the relay to enable ARC protection.

This section explains a step by step procedure for a user to upgrade the relay from REX610 1.0 to REX610 1.1 or higher. It considers two scenarios in general:

  • Scenario 1: Relay upgrade without change in HW configuration. For this, refer to the Engineering manual sections on Firmware update and Configuration migration.
  • Scenario 2: Relay upgrade including HW configuration upgrade. For this scenario, the steps below explain the procedure to add an ARC module and upgrade an REX610 1.0 to REX610 1.1 or higher with ARC protection.

If relay instance of REX610 1.0 is available in PCM600, carry out a PCM600 common read operation to take a backup of the configuration.

  1. Turn off the relay.
  2. Insert the ARC module.
Refer to the Installation manual section on Installing optional modules into cassettes.
  3. Turn on the relay.
  4. Carry out a firmware update to the relay with REX610 1.1 or higher firmware.
Refer to the Engineering manual section on Firmware update procedure.
  5. Wait for a firmware update success message and an auto reboot of the relay.
  6. Select factory setting restoration from the LHMI Configuration > General > Factory setting.
  7. Open PCM600.
  8. If there is already a PCM600 instance in the PCM600 project, go to step 10. If there is no instance yet configured, continue in the order.
  9. Create a project and instantiate REX610 1.1 or higher using Online in the wizard page.
Refer to Engineering manual for configuring the relay in PCM600 plant structure.
  10. If the instance of PCM600 is REX610 1.1 or higher, go to step 12. If the instance is REX610 1.0, go to Step 11.
  11. Open the IED configuration migration (ICM) tool in PCM600 and initiate migration.
Refer to Engineering manual for Configuration migration procedure.
  12. In order to enable the ARC module, open HWT tool and select ARCAGGIO under Slot D1.
  13. Open ACT tool. To enable ARC protection, make the configuration with ARCSARC and/or FSTADAGGIO functions (refer to Technical manual for more information) and save and write the configuration to the relay.
    The relay is now ready.
As a part of commissioning the ARC protection:
  • Once the ARC module is inserted and above steps are completed, refer to Operational manual on background light compensation to follow the steps to record background light for every sensor installed.
  • Make any adjustments, if necessary, to the settings and make sure the final configurations is written to the relay using the Common write procedure.
Note: After factory reset, IED will be changed to default IP(192.168.2.10). Keeping default IP (192.168.2.10). It is mandatory to perform a common write operation before performing the firmware update operation.
