Ensure that the latest connectivity package is activated in Update Manager.
Figure 1. Checking the connectivity package

Restart PCM600 for the changes to take place in the active connectivity package.
  1. Right-click the IED instance to be migrated in the plant structure of PCM600 and select Migrate Configuration.
Figure 2. Selecting the IED Instance to be migrated

  2. Read the relay configuration as a back-up.

A read configuration pop-up will show up before migration during online Configuration Migration when the PCM relay instance version and the actual relay version matches.

    Figure 3. Read configuration pop-up

  3. Select the target version in the dialog box and click Continue.
    Figure 4. Target version selection

The Configuration Migration Details dialog box is displayed giving the summary of the migration process.
  4. Click Next to start the migration process.
The migration takes a few minutes. The PCM600 output window contains valuable information from different parts of the migration, such as successfully imported parameter details and the location of the newly created template. The migration process also creates a report.

  5. Wait until the migration process is completed.
  6. Select the Show IED Configuration Migration Report check box to view, print, or save the report and click Finish .
The report is useful later when updating the configuration.

While open, the migration report can be saved or printed from the PCM600 tool bar.

Figure 8. Saving and printing from the tool bar

Note: Save the IED configuration migration report for later use as PCM600 does not save it automatically.
Note: Apart from migrating the configuration in PCM600 using ICM tool, user shall also update the relay firmware to the latest version.

When upgrading a relay from a lower version to a higher version, user can either follow

Configuration migration using ICM tool and Firmware update to the relay using FUT tool of PCM600 in this order

OR

Firmware update to the relay using FUT tool and Configuration migration using ICM tool of PCM600 in this order.

After the relay upgrade with the new firmware, a factory setting restoration needs to be performed in the relay from LHMI path Configuration > General > Factory setting for the updated firmware to take effect and for enabling the newer functions and settings.

If the relay is upgraded by adding new HW module, user should update the HWT tool (refer to Adding or removing hardware cards) after configuration migration is completed. This will ensure Hardware composition is aligned with the actual relay hardware.

Refer to Upgrading REX610 1.0 to REX610 1.1 or higher - adding and configuring ARC module for steps to add ARC module to the relay and for upgrading the configuring of a REX610 1.0 with ARC protection (available in REX610 1.1).
